Since fire sprinkler systems need to be in working order at all times, they need to be inspected annually to ensure that they will operate properly during a fire emergency.  During a fire sprinkler system test, physical checks are performed on all the parts of your fire sprinkler system.  These checks include water flow tests, fire pump tests, alarm tests, and trip tests of dry pipe, deluge, and pre-action valves.

In addition to annual inspections, you must also carry out quarterly flow tests. Written records of all quarterly fire sprinkler system inspections must be maintained in accordance with NFPA 25.  All of our fire sprinkler system inspections are performed by highly trained fire sprinkler system service technicians.

Google reviews:
“Excellent service. Cody always arrives on time, early in the morning before we start production. I can set my watch my his timeliness! He keeps me informed of everything I need to know about my extinguishers and fire suppression systems. I highly recommend this company!” – Jeff Swafford

“I had my fire suppression system checked by Cody and he was extremely professional and polite. He showed up promptly at 9am and had the job done in 20 minutes. Highly recommend this company!” – Kameron Wise

“A week before our initial planned opening, our fire suppression test failed. Cody from Jefferson Fire & Safety went above and beyond to make sure we got our replacement part, found someone to install it for us, and went out of his way to schedule us in to get our test redone. We still had to delay our opening, but not through anyone’s lack of trying, and only by two weeks. Thank you so much for getting us open!” – Lara Romine

FIRE ALARM TESTING AND REPAIR

FOR AFTER HOURS SERVICE PAGE A TECHNICIAN
608-376-1486.

Lives are at stake!  Your fire alarm system will only operate properly if it is maintained and some impairments will not be obvious without testing!  Testing is done to meet the requirements of your local building department, fire inspectors, and even your insurance carrier.  Your insurance carrier may reject your claim if you do not have proof of completed annual inspections.  Testing can also assure that the system does not create nuisance alarms that waste Fire Department resources, this could put others’ lives in jeopardy and many jurisdictions will charge the building owner for multiple nuisance alarms.

The biggest reason of all, it is required by the National Fire Alarm Code! (NFPA 72) IT’S THE LAW.

As a building owner/business owner, it is important for you to have designated persons with some knowledge of the fire alarm system.  At the very least these people should be able to recognize when the system is impaired, understand how to reset the system, and know when to call for service.  Building maintenance personnel or other trained people are often able to do visual inspections but yearly extensive testing must be done by a qualified state licensed inspector

You will need a copy of the completed Inspection and Testing Form for yourself and your insurance carrier.  Fire alarm systems are expected to help protect people, property, and assets.  But you can’t tell if they’re fully operational just by looking at them. As with any other system, electronics and other components can degrade over time and compromise the system’s operation.  Dust, dirt, and other contaminants can cause problems with smoke detectors. Such things as vandalism, remodeling, and improper maintenance procedures can also damage fire protection equipment.  The good news is that with proper testing, inspection, and maintenance you can keep your fire alarm system at optimum operating performance.  In addition to ensuring protection, keeping your system in good condition reduces expenses by preventing unbudgeted emergency repairs and costly false alarms.

When properly installed and maintained, fire systems have proven to be the most effective means for protecting life and property against fire.  Thus, it is imperative that alarm systems operate and function properly.  In order to ensure that alarm systems are functioning correctly, state law requires that such systems be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and be repaired or replaced when they are found to be defective.

Jefferson Fire & Safety believes that safeguarding the personal welfare of your employees is of paramount importance. If there’s a single system most critical for this safety it would have to be an integrated fire alarm and sprinkler program, the lifeblood of any fire protection program.

CO2 Refill

Cylinder testing

CONTACT:

Office: 800-697-3473

Not only do we service and check your CO2 fire extinguishers, but we can recharge the majority of your other CO2
based systems.

Carbon dioxide tanks have many uses that we often take for granted. They keep beer, ice cream and soft drinks cold and make carbonated water at home. CO2 has numerous commercial uses in cleaning and is even used for growing plants.

So, how do you know when it’s time to refill your CO2 tank? Of course, you can bring it into Jefferson Fire & Safety, and we’ll check it out for you. However, if you’re using CO2 to keep your draft beer taps flowing, you don’t want to take a chance of running out in the middle of a party. The best option is to install a double gauge regulator on your tank. A double gauge regulator tells you how much pressure is available in the tank – between 0-60 PSI (pounds per square inch) and how much CO2 is left in your tank.

If you are using your CO2 tank to dispense beer, you don’t want to run the risk of losing pressure in the middle of an event. If you have a 5 pound CO2 tank, you can dispense 2 to 4 full-size beer kegs before needing to refill. Most U.S. breweries recommend a CO2 pressure of between 12-14 PSI. A setting outside of this range can cause your beer to become either over or under carbonated. If the beer is foamy, then your CO2 pressure is set too high, and you should adjust the regulator to lower the pressure. On the other hand, if your beer is flat then that’s a sign of the CO2 pressure being too low, so you adjust the regulator to increase the pressure.

Holmatro Hydraulics

Holmatro Hydraulics

We have five certified Holmatro service technicians, please reach out to either Zach Ward at (608) 219-1716, zward@jeffersonfire.com, or Mike Lorenz at (608) 219-0924, mlorenz@jeffersonfire.com, to schedule service for your equipment.

Perhaps no other type of fire/rescue equipment is subjected to more severe treatment than your hydraulic rescue tools. This is especially true when dealing with the new challenges and risks presented to rescuers by some of the safety features in today’s automobiles, including new high-strength steel alloys, composite materials, and frame construction.

As Holmatro’s authorized Warranty Service Center for Wisconsin and Minnesota, JFS has invested in extensive training for our Dealer Service Technicians (DST) and specialized testing and repair equipment to satisfy our goal of keeping your system operating at peak efficiency and rescue ready for your next emergency.

Annual Preventative Maintenance
To insure proper operation and performance, Holmatro recommends annual inspection, testing and preventative maintenance of all rescue equipment.  This program is typically conducted at your station to reduce downtime.  This annual comprehensive program offers a complete and thorough service of your Holmatro system insuring that it meets the manufacturer’s specifications for performance, pressures, and forces.  By servicing and inspecting the system, the chances of a system or tool failure are greatly reduced, giving the fire department peace of mind knowing that the users and the community being served are protected with properly maintained equipment at the best possible level.  Our comprehensive preventative maintenance program includes inspection, functional testing, repair, loaners, service maintenance record keeping, operational training and preventative maintenance training.

Fire Extinguishers

FIRE EXTINGUISHER

A portable fire extinguisher can save lives and property by putting out a small fire or containing it until the fire department arrives, but portable extinguishers have limitations.  Because fire grows and spreads so rapidly, the number one priority for residents is to get out safely.  Portable fire extinguishers are effective against small fires but only if the extinguisher is properly placed, efficiently maintained, and used by trained individuals. Our professionally trained and certified technicians will work to assist you with your fire protection needs.

ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
Extinguishers need to be maintained at regular intervals, not more than one year apart, or when specifically indicated by an inspection.  Maintenance is a “thorough check” of the extinguisher by a certified agent.  This is intended to give maximum assurance that an extinguisher will operate effectively and safely.  It includes a thorough examination and any necessary repair, recharging or replacement.  the check will reveal the need for periodic required testing of an extinguisher.

RECHARGING
All extinguishers need to be recharged after use or as indicated by an inspection from one of our technicians.  Recharging is the replacement or replenishment of the extinguishing agent and/or the expellant for certain extinguishers.

RECORD KEEPING
Each extinguisher must have a tag or label securely attached that indicates the month and year the maintenance was performed and shall identify the person performing the service.  The same record tag or label shall indicate if recharging was also performed. Fire department inspectors will check these tags during routine building inspections.  Records to be kept on file will vary based on insurance and/or OSHA oversight requirements.

3M Scott Air-Packs

Air Pak Service

To schedule service for your equipment you can contact our Service Manager at  608-575-5379 or email.

More than ever before, fire department leaders must ensure that their department maintains accurate and detailed documentation that complies with applicable laws, rules, standards and regulations. You have more detailed regulatory requirements and an increased emphasis on firefighter safety. Jefferson Fire & Safety is here to help you meet those requirements.

Does your department have SCBA policies, procedures and processes that meet NFPA 1852? This is the standard on Selection, Care and Maintenance of Open-Circuit Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus. These are our standards, and while your jurisdiction may not have formally adopted NFPA 1852, or any of the other NFPA standards, those standards will be used to evaluate the actions of your department and its personnel during a LODD investigation or lawsuit.

JFS has a full service testing, repair and maintenance facility. Our factory trained and certified technicians can inspect and flow test your Air-Paks with our PosiChek3 using Scott Safety SCBA manufacturer provided software to keep you compliant and ready. We have both mobile and in-house service to meet your Air-Paks flow test requirements.

In addition to Air-Pak flow testing, maintenance and repair we offer SCBA fit testing. Tight-fitting respiratory protection devices must fit properly in order to provide proper protection. The fit testing process ensures that the user has the proper size, make or model of mask. This process is required for both positive and negative pressure devices, is mandatory every 2 years and is recommended annually. Organizations can choose to rent a fit-testing machine or have fit-testing done on-site by one of our specialists.  We are capable of testing both Scott and MSA equipment.
