Beth Jefferson ‘Women In Firefighting’ Scholarship

In cooperation with the Madison College Foundation, the Beth Jefferson Women in Firefighting Scholarship is awarded twice a year to individuals looking for a career in firefighting.

The scholarship will be awarded on merit and MUST be awarded to a female or racial/ethnic minority candidate, looking to join the firefighting industry. The brave first responders have a special calling, that allows them to put others before themselves while serving our communities.

This scholarship will provide a worthy candidate the opportunity to be trained to serve this cause. Jefferson Fire & Safety is a 4th generation, female owned and operated business, looking to promote females in the fire service industry. Jefferson Fire is a supplier of fire fighter gear and this scholarship may include a basic set of turnout gear to the candidate. Scholarship may also provide candidate the opportunity to participate in ‘in-house’ trainings if qualified.

The Madison College foundation will select scholarship recipients from the eligible application pool of students who have completed an application during the official application time frame through their online system.

Madison College Foundation Criteria

The Foundation Board has established the following criteria for all foundation managed scholarship funds. To be eligible for a foundation scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have a minimum 2.0 grade point average
  • Demonstrate financial need, which is determined by a FAFSA/Alternative
  • FAFSA score or financial need essay
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits
